Liverpool: much more than Beatles....(2nd. Part)

Hello, again, I´m going to continue with the second part of the exhibition.
Famous Liverpudlians:
Among the most famous Liverpudlians are Daniel Craig (“James Bond”, “Tomb Raider”...), Frank Hornby (who invented the popular toy Mecanno), Paul Preston (famous historian), Elvis Costello (musician and singer-songwriter), Sir Simon Denis Rattle (English classical music conductor) and Melanie Jayne Chisholm (also known as Melanie C, one of the five members of the group Spice Girls).

But the most famous Liverpudlians are, of course, The Beatles. They have been one of the most commercially successful and critically acclaimed bands in the history of popular music. They started to play in 1960. Soon they had a great success in U.K. and in 1963 in the U.S.A. After that, they were known all over the world. Enjoy this videoclip, it is a promo for The Beatles' hit "Help!" I love how Paul and George keep looking over John's shoulder trying to be seen!

Liverpool: much more than Beatles....(1st. Part)

Liverpool was designated European Capital of Culture for 2008. This is the reason why some students of English in the "Escuela Oficial de Idiomas de Ferrol" prepared an exhibition of photos of the city this month.

Outline history of the city: Liverpool was founded in 1207. The city began to grow in the 18th century and by the close of the century Liverpool controlled over 80% of Britain´s slave commerce. During the first decades of the 19th century Irish migrants began to arrive by the hundreds of thousands as a result of the great famine. The population declined in the 20th century but instead in 1960s Liverpool became a centre of youth culture. In recent years Liverpool´s economy has recovered and has experienced growth rates at the end of the 20th century. The process still continues today. What to see in Liverpool?: Merseyside Maritime Museum, Albert Dock, The Pier Head, Tate Liverpool, Walker Art Gallery, Concert Square and many others.

Going for a walk

Hello...

Last weekend I went to Fervenza in Neda. It is a waterfall of the river Belelle with almost 45 meters high and flowing into Ferrol Estuary. It was a wonderful walk, climbing the mountain, watching the vegetation, breathing pure air and contemplating the Nature.

Look at these photos and enjoy them. Bye...
